My kids dad just died, no will. Should they get a lawyer?

He was in Kentucky, has a truck that is paid for with only his name on the title. His house is not paid for, don't know more about that. Has some life insurance that should cover the cost of cremation with a small amount left over. Should my kids get a lawyer? Will the 'estate' be held in probate? My adult kids live in KS and AZ, can't afford to go back and forth and would like to clean this up quickly and correctly.
